20 Latinx Christmas Songs That Will Have You Singing Along Until December 25th
“I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need…” That’s the first thing you will hear coming out of my house on December 1st and pretty much every day thereafter. The holiday season is one of my favorites and, if you haven’t guessed yet, it’s definitely because of all of the amazing Latinx Christmas songs that are on my playlist this time of year.
From Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” to Jose Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad,” here are the 20 Latinx Christmas songs that will have you singing along until December 25th. You might discover a few new favorites (Gloria Estefan, anyone?) or rediscover songs you’ve forgotten (Ricky Martin, what?!). And, best of all, there are some classics on this list that will have you feeling warm and fuzzy in no time. Time to break out the coquito and Christmas cookies, amirite?
1. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey
For every one of us who grew up in the 90s, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is THE seminal Christmas song. It’s always the first one I play every single season and the one that is going to be on repeat, over and over. What, are you telling me there’s something wrong with that?
2. “Feliz Navidad” by Jose Feliciano
This song might be an oldie but a goodie. We can all thank Jose Feliciano for bringing the phrase “Feliz Navidad” into the American public to the point that my non-Latinx friends still say it to me every holiday season. It’s a great song, though, so no worries.
3. “Santa Baby” by Shakira
Shakira didn’t officially record “Santa Baby” and our Colombian queen doesn’t yet have a Christmas album out but she DID sing this song live a few years ago and it’s a gorgeous version that we can’t help but love. Seriously, when is that Christmas album coming, Shaki?!
4. “Jingle Bells / Campanas De Navidad” by Celia Cruz con La Sonora Matancera
The Queen of Salsa wouldn’t be a queen if she hadn’t branched out into making a Christmas album, amirite? Her version of “Jingle Bells” is pretty fabulous, even if the graphics in this video are so old that you’ll have to squint at the screen.
5. “Christmas Auld Lang Syne” by Marc Anthony
Marc Anthony has the smooth voice we all love and his version of “Christmas Auld Lang Syne” is simply beautiful. Don’t blame us if you find yourself singing this in the shower over and over again. I mean, blame us, but in a good way.
6. “Silent Night (Noche de Paz)” by Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera bestowed us with a Christmas album that will forever be one of our favorites (after the Queen of Christmas, Mariah, of course). Although there’s a lot of great songs here, you can bet your tush that “Silent Night (Noche de Paz)” is an all-time favorite.
7. “Ay Ay Ay It’s Christmas” by Ricky Martin
Back in the top of his heyday, Ricky Martin just couldn’t be stopped. And who would even WANT to stop hip? He shook his bon-bons all over the screens while singing this beautiful and shake-your-booty-worthy Christmas song.
8. “Baby It’s Cold Outside / Frío Frío” by Adrienne Houghton feat. Israel Houghton
Adrienne Houghton, a.k.a. Adrienne Bailon, has just released a Christmas album and we’re all scrambling to buy it ASAP, amirite? Her duet with her husband, Israel Houghton, is particularly touching. This song is no longer creepy now that it’s between two actual lovebirds.
9. “Santa Claus Llego A La Ciudad” by Luis Miguel
Luis Miguel is a classic and pretty much everything he sings turns to gold, just like his Spanish-language rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (a.k.a “Santa Claus Llego A La Ciudad”). It’s a beautiful song, though, and we absolutely love it.
10. “All That I’m Missing (This Christmas)” by Chrissie Fit
Chrissie Fit joined the ranks of Latinas who released awesome Christmas albums and her song, “All That I’m Missing (This Christmas)”, is definitely a new classic. It helps that she is adorable and that this song is definitely adorable, too.
11. “Burrito Sabanero” by Juanes
A classic song song by Juanes is just what we need right now. When he sings “Burrito Sabanero,” our hearts simply melt. This classic Spanish-language Christmas song really gets a touching rendition thanks to our fave Latino rock star.
12. “This Christmas” by Gloria Estefan
It’s impossible not to love Gloria Estefan and that feeling definitely translates to her Christmas album. It’s one of my favorites and her song, “This Christmas,” is at the top of my favorites. Her rendition is phenomenal and, to be honest, the rest of the album is worth it, too.
13. “Santa Claus and His Old Lady” by Cheech & Chong
Okay, so this is more of a comedy song… But it deserves a spot on this list, too. It’s hard not to love this song by Cheech & Chong and it can forever be on our list of favorite songs by Latino dudes…. even funny ones.
14. “No Hay Cama Pa’ Tanta Gente” by El Gran Combo
It’s not Christmas in my house until I’ve heard this song, and that’s the way it should be. El Gran Combo sings this gorgeous song and it makes us all feel warm inside, amirite? Let’s do Christmas right this year and play this over and over again.
15. “Christmas Wish” by El Vez
You can’t have too many lovely Christmas songs on your list, which is why we are adding this one from El Vez. To be hoenst, the entire album is pretty worth it but this one is particularly awesome.
16. “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting Over An Open Fire)” by Christina Aguilera
We can’t leave this list without including one more Christina Aguilera song because her Christmas album really is that good. Thankfully, this one comes with a beautiful video featuring baby Xtina in a way that will make you go “awwwww” for far too long.
17. “Mis Deseos / Feliz Navidad” by Michael Bublé featuring Thalia
Okay, so Michael Bublé himself is NOT Latino but he IS married to Latina and he DOES sing this awesome Christmas song with the forever gorgeous Thalia, so we had to include it on this list. We’ll just start writing our fan letter asking her to release a Christmas album now…
18. “Oh Santa!” by Mariah Carey
Another Mariah Carey song, you say? But of course! She’s not the Queen of Christmas for nothing. In fact, this album comes from her second Christmas album and that’s okay. We need to add both to our list to fully round this out. Oh Santa, for sure!
19. “Navidad De Los Pobres” by Los Tigres Del Norte
Los Tigres Del Norte provide us with this wonderful Christmas song that is sure to have your heart singing holiday classics all month long. This song is so beautiful that it almost has me crying… And if I really did cry, I might not want to admit it.
20. “Santa Baby” by Naya Rivera (for Glee)
It might be cheating a little bit but Naya Rivera sang plenty of Christmas songs during her tenure on Glee. The most memorable, though, is definitely her rendition of “Santa Baby.” That sexy song was pretty much tailor-made to her voice and it’s hard not to enjoy it. In fact, let’s just enjoy it guilt-free even though it comes from a television show.
