Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ has been lighting up the music charts for seven weeks straight, marking yet another milestone for the artist and her hit single.
This week Camila joined the ranks of artists whose songs have dominated the music charts for seven consecutive weeks.
And according to Billboard, Cabello’s breakthrough solo has broken records as the longest running song by a female lead to top pop charts in five years.
It’s a feat that has not been accomplished by any other female artist since Taylor Swift, whose single “I Knew You Were Trouble” ruled the charts back in 2013. The song’s latest accomplishment puts Cabello within the realm of artists (Katy Perry, Pharrell, Rihanna, Kesha and Snoop Dog among them) whose number one songs reigned over the music charts for a straight run of seven weeks.
Fans have been counting down the days for Cabello’s debut album since the beginning of last December.
Just before the end of last year, Cabello finally nailed down a release date for her debut album. Sneak previews of songs on the album, titled Camila, hint at an album infused with Latin vibes and stories of female friendships. The album, which drops Jan. 12, features “Never Be the Same” and “Real Friends, which are already becoming radio favorites.
