Beyond being a right or a privilege, voting is a tool of power, one that was and continues to be fought, bled and died for so that so many of us could have a voice that our elected officials would listen to. Today millions of Americans across the country are heading out to the polls and honoring the rights fought for them by so many people before them as well as exercising their power to affect not just their own immediate lives but those of people across the globe by voting in the 2018 midterm election. After months of radio silence, Demi Lovato has revealed that she has set aside her recent struggles in her own personal life to prioritize the lives of others to do so too.
In her latest Instagram post, which comes months after surviving an extreme drug overdose, Lovato cast her vote and dropped a lesson in priorities.
In a post to her Instagram page on Tuesday, the “Sober” singer shared an image of herself at a voting booth ready to cast her ballot for the 2018 midterm elections. “I am so grateful to be home in time to vote! One vote can make a difference, so make sure your voice is heard!” the singer said in her post before encouraging her fans to “go out and #VOTE!!!!”
Lovato’s post comes just a few days after a source close to the singer revealed her plans to remain in rehab until December and nearly 5 months after she experienced a life-threatening drug overdose that ultimately put her in the recovery facility. The post is the first the former Disney star has posted on social media since the July overdose.
It didn’t take long for fans to flood Lovato’s post with praise and adoration for being active in the voting process. One fan commented that Lovato was the “queen of voting” while other were eager to welcome her back to life in recovery “It’s good to have you back and looking happy and healthy. Stay strong beautiful.”
Lovato stans also couldn’t praise her enough on Twitter.

Others were quick to point out that during a time when she could have stayed silent, the singer used her voice to encourage change.
Even tho she didn't have to post anything, she's just out of rehab, she still took instagram to tell people to vote. We stan a queen who uses her voice for good. DEMETRIA WE MISSED YOU
