All of the dreams that never came into fruition in time for your high school dances are finally coming true. Not all of us could afford the looks of Betsy Johnson back in the day, but there’s no doubting that most of us poured over the pages of her mail catalog and wish we had models that looked and felt a little bit more like us. Fortunately, this Fall, our hopes and dreams have been answered in the form of a true Boricua royal. Princess Nokia, the rapper known as Destiny Frasqueri by her nearest and dearest, has linked up with fashion designer of all things whimsical and punk rock to file out a new line that gives us major Latina Power vibes.

Princess Nokia is the official face of Betsy Johnson’s 2018 Fall campaign.

The new collaboration might feel a bit random but when you think about the aesthetic and looks of both style rebels it doesn’t take like to realize just how great a fit these two forces make. After all, Nokia has been rocking the energetic and wired style of the 90s that Johnson had a huge hand in establishing in the earlier parts of her fashion design career. Speaking about the new collaboration, the Puerto-Rican artist told the Source  “Betsey is an icon to many NYC club kids and fashion weirdos. The plaid, the dresses, the somersault at the end of every season’s show. Can’t tell me I’m not a fan, darling.”

The new Fall line definitely lives up to all the hype.

The new Fall line features a mashup of Johnson’s most iconic prints with new 90s flare.

Just like the two collaborators, the looks are proving to be pretty edgy and timeless.

In an interview with Galore magazine about working with Johnson, Nokia said the collaboration was “such a blessing. Such an honor,” and that her favorite piece from the Fall collection was hands down a black shift dress with a white Peter Pan collar. “Such a gorgeous take of romantic goth. I can’t wait to wear it in fall. It’s my back to school goth girl look.”
