Selena Quintanilla is going mainstream on a whole other level: Forever 21 is now selling Selena graphic T-shirts (for very reasonable prices).
The collection comes in four gender neutral looks, featuring long sleeve tees, a sweatshirt, and even plus-size shirts. Prices range between $16 and $28.
This could be a limited collection, and will most likely sell out.
I had a few issues while attempting to buy certain shirts, which means this series could go fast. The collection is most likely approved by Selena’s family — the gear probably wouldn’t be sold at such a high profile retailer if the Quintanilla family hadn’t signed off on it — although there’s no official promotion of this collection on their social media pages. Forever 21 has been sued in the past for copyright infringement.
Graphic tees have been hot commodities lately, so it makes sense that Forever 21 would jump on selling Selena tees.
In June, Kylie and Kendall Jenner dropped the sale of their graphic tees which featured hip-hop artists such as the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac after receiving major backlash for imprinting their faces upon the legendary rappers. They also got heat for featuring Sabbath, Metallica, Pink Floyd, the Doors, Kiss and Led Zeppelin.
While this collection by Forever 21 appears to be official, people have been sporting Selena tees for a while.
Various celebrities have been seeing wearing Selena on shirts, making her a household name with non-Latino audiences.
In 2015, Drake wore an airbrushed Selena tee while in the recording studio.

Drake’s Selena tee was made by artist Darien Bruze.
In 2016, Kylie Jenner also wore a Selena graphic shirt.

Those shirts were produced by For All To Envy.
This is just the latest in Selena merchandise. Late last year, MAC collaborated with the Quintanilla family to sell a cosmetics line.
