What Present To Get Someone According To Their Zodiac Sign

Gift giving can be oh-so-hard. First there’s the hunt for a perfect gift, followed by the realization that (gasp!) your bank account needs a little TLC, and then there’s wrapping the thing. I don’t even want to go there…

Have no fear, my fellow Mitu-lings, I’ve got you covered. For every sign under the zodiac, there’s an ideal gift just waiting to be had. I’ve parsed it out step-by-step so you know just what to buy for that special someone, that obligatory tia who’s coming to visit, or even the co-worker who is just SO excited for the holiday party.

Aries Woman + Fun

Twitter @Ms.B

The Aries woman embraces the term “Carpe Diem” more than any other. To honor this, choose a gift that she’ll be able to remember for the rest of her life – an experience. Concert tickets, a float session, skydiving lessons, or even entry into a sporting event will help extend her holiday and make it more memorable than all others.

Aries Man + Wild

Twitter @whereisneva

The Aries man loves a trip around the figurative racetrack just about as much as he loves himself. Surprise him with an adrenaline-fueled experience that keeps him on his toes. Choose something with a little spice for an extra-big smile.

Taurus Lady + Yum

Twitter @SeasonalRecipes

Few activities scream ‘Taurus’ more than cooking. The fusion of smells, sights, and of course delicious tastes make it a cornucopia of delight for this earthy gal. As such, consider buying your Taurus pal a unique cooking gadget or even cooking classes this holiday season.

Taurus Guy + Comfort

Twitter @TahiniG4L_

When a Taurus gentleman shows up on your list, it’s time for comfort. He appreciates the finer things in life because he knows he’s worth it. Splurge on a cashmere blanket, a fancy bottle of wine, or a cozy robe. Just make sure your purchase feels soft or tastes good, and he’ll be happy.

Gemini Gal + Indecisive

Twitter @Vans

Truth be told, there isn’t a more indecisive sign than the lovable Gemini. One minute she wants a New York Times bestseller and the next, she can’t find the time to read. Do yourself (and her) a favor — buy a gift card to her favorite store. There’s really no way you can go wrong with this one.

Gemini Guy + Words

Twitter @Sikander Bizenjo

A true connoisseur of words, the Gemini boy in your life is apt to appreciate anything that allows him to express himself musically or through writing. Consider a new instrument, a cool journal, or even a clever pen that can go wherever he goes. And in true Gemini fashion, he’s apt to be going lot’s of places.

Cancer Lady + Sentimental

Twitter @jiminbagels

There is no zodiac sign more sentimental than that of the Cancer, and women born this time of year tend to embody that tenfold. If you’re up for it, she would really appreciate a handmade gift. If that seems like too much this close to Christmas, don’t sweat it. She’ll be thrilled with anything that carries meaning or reminds you of her.

Cancer Fella + Old School

Twitter @JessieOliveros

Tradition, sentiment, and meaningful are words that describe the perfect gift for a Cancer man. Whether it be a photo album or a family heirloom, this gent is apt to mark it down as a hit. Just be sure to put some thought into the gift before wrapping it up; he’ll look for the sentiment.

Leo Lass + Glam

Twitter @Ciria_NoMasUna

Leo ladies love anything that helps them feel like Queen of the World. Consider a selfie stick, fancy clothes, or a trip to…anywhere. Just make sure that there are plenty of opportunities for her to steal the show while you’re gone.

Leo Lad + King

Twitter @BmfMx

Not to be outdone by his feminine counterpart, the Leo male is anything but modest. He’s happiest when the spotlight is shining directly on him. Because of this, you may want to consider anything monogrammed with his initials, or a gift that will help him look good in his social media posts.

Virgo Gal+ Practical

Twitter @NextDayCleaning

What’s the point of a gift if it can’t be used? To a Virgo girl, not much. As you’re shopping around, think of anything you dread buying for yourself. A household gadget that makes life easier? A new pair of gardening gloves to replace the old, tattered ones? She’ll love it! Bonus points if it can be used for multiple purposes.

Virgo Man + Healthy

Twitter @nightwings

Healthiness and cleanliness are very important for a Virgo man, as is practicality. Think of ways you can blend all three to make a truly memorable gift. There’s no such thing as too many socks for this guy. Same goes for tools, belts, and car accessories. Also worth considering – a healthy meal delivery service.

Libra Lady + Outdoors

Twitter @AW20188

Never underestimate the power of the great outdoors, particularly for the Libra lady in your life. She loves to surround herself with activities that keep her on her toes, especially when those activities take place outside. Consider entrance to an outdoor obstacle course, hiking boots, or a cool water bottle that will allow her to explore more comfortably outdoors.

Libra Man + Artsy

Twitter @FreakArtistic

Libras are naturally very artsy and creative, so anything that helps bring out that eccentricity is a hit. Surprise him with anything that fuels his creative side. A canvas for a painter; diamond shears for a glass blower; or a design tool for the graphic designer in your life.

Scorpio Woman + Unique

Twitter @LNanvazadeh

Born under a complex and fascinating zodiac sign, the Scorpio woman can be quite difficult to shop for. On one hand, anything that challenges traditional gift giving has potential for success. On the other hand, she keeps her distance, which may make it hard for you to know what would bring a smile. Consider anything from an unusual board game to an antique from abroad.

Scorpio Guy + One-of-a-Kind

Twitter @demic_goddess

Scorpio men are all about connection – physical, sexual, emotional. When thinking of a gift for him, make sure it’s something he can feel. Though he wants to maintain control over everything in his life, he’ll be grateful for a thoughtful gesture that reflects his inner passions. Personalized gifts, a deep tissue massage, and a home cooked meal are excellent options.

Sagittarius Girl + Travel

Twitter @HypeWanderlust

The jet setter of horoscope signs, choose something for the Sagittarius in your life that encourages her wanderlust. A camera, travel pillow, gift card to an airline, anything that will help her fulfill her quest for adventure.

Sagittarius Boy + Freedom

Twitter @ines_iniesta2

Encourage his lust for freedom by wrapping a gift allows him to spread his wings. An attractive passport holder, cool luggage tags, or tickets to a guided tour abroad can all fit the bill.

Capricorn Woman + Hardworking

Twitter @latifa_hush

As the most hardworking of all zodiac signs, a Capricorn will appreciate anything that helps her advance her career. Sessions with a career coach, a laptop case, or a comfy computer chair all have the potential to do wonders.

Capricorn Man + Ambitious

Twitter @3D_PrintCenter

Though incredibly hardworking, the Capricorn man is just as apt to mix business with pleasure. He’d enjoy a sarcastic gag gift that can decorate his desk at work.

Aquarius Gal + Techie

Twitter @wef

Born with a gift for technology, anything that resembles the latest gadget is sure to bring good tidings. Wireless headphones or a phone charger is perfect.

Aquarius Man + Intellectual

Twitter @krechenmacher

More inclined to watch than participate, the Aquarius man loves to be challenged intellectually. A gift of puzzles, a classic book, or passes to an escape room are sure to be a hit.

Pisces Lady + Handmade

Twitter @MagpieMoonlight

A sucker for sentimental, a Pisces woman will bring on the waterworks with anything thoughtful. A handmade scarf or home delivered meal are apt to make her swoon.

Pisces Guy + Gentle

Twitter @doevember

Possessing strong emotions and a never ending desire to please, it can be a challenge for the Pisces guy to accept gifts. Choose something that isn’t too flashy or overstated. A scrapbook or even a batch of his favorite cookies will please.

The Spanish ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ Is Being Shared To Honor Hispanic Workers Fighting COVID-19

There’s no denying that the world looks a lot different now than it did in 1947. And while the list of all of the positive changes that the decades stretching between now and then have done for the world and minorities, a recent campaign is also highlighting the ways in which our current president could take some notes on certain values the United States held dear during this time. Particularly ones that had been pressed for by one of our former presidents.

As part of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Good Neighbor Policy” effort, he worked to promote positive and healthy relations between the United States in Latin American countries.

At the time Rooseveltaimed to ensure that the North, Central and South American countries avoided breaking under the influence of Axis countries during World War II. As part of this campaign, Roosevelt comissioned a Spanish and a Portuguese version of the U.S. national anthem. According to Time Magazine he also “recruited Hollywood to participate in this Good Neighbor Policy; Walt Disney went on goodwill tour of South America, hoping to find a new market for his films, and ended up producing two movies inspired by the trip: Saludos Amigos (1942) and The Three Caballeros (1944). The Brazilian star Carmen Miranda also got a boost, and her role in The Gang’s All Here made her even more famous in the U.S. And alongside these cross-cultural exchanges, the U.S. government decided it needed an anthem that could reach Spanish speakers.”

According to NPR, Clotilde Arias, wrote wrote the translation at the end of World War II, was born in the small Peruvian city, Iquitos in 1901 and moved to New York City to become a composer when she was 22-years-old. Her version of the anthem is now part of an exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Now in an effort to support Latino communities affected by the coronavirus, the non-profit We Are All Human Foundation’s Hispanic Star campaign commissioned the a remake of the song.

Hoping to raise awareness of its Hispanic Recovery Plan and efforts to help to connect Hispanic small businesses and workers with resources during the pandemic, the campaign brought the old recording from obscurity.

For the song, the 2019 winner of the singing competition La Voz,  Jeidimar Rijos, performed “El Pendón Estrellado.” Or, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The song has already received quite a bit of comments and support on Youtube.

Hang in there, fam. We can only get through this together.

Thank you for all of your love & support to those who have been readers and customers of @thehoodwitch over the years. ♥️You know truly how hard I work and that this is my livelihood and culture. Visual art and magic ARE my life and practice. Not a peach flavored “turquoise” glitter drink. My magic is in my blood, my magic is in my ability to bring life to my visions, it is creation & destruction. Over the last 6 years, I have been so honored and lucky to be featured in some of the largest media publications internationally not limited to Instagram. This is bigger than that and the creative team for Starbucks knew that. I have personally worked on consulting large companies in their design concepts this work comes naturally to me. “So what’s the big fuss?” My personal style has become synonymous with the visual aesthetic of my brand. No, I absolutely did not “invent” the crystal balls nor acrylic nails but What I created was a space for myself along with other POC to feel represented and have visual imagery that was representative of us. The colorful candles of my local botanicas, my gold jewelry, and my long nails clutching my crystals are certainly not “new” but to see them presented in a manner that I shared visually in this space was. Katherine de Vos Devine @devosdevine is a lawyer and art historian who wrote a powerful and insightful look as to what exactly is happening with this situation and we are sharing it in our story today because more than anything she truly gives the full tea of the situation. I can strip away the crystal balls, the nail art, and delete all of my beautifully curated photos but I will always be me, I will always be my grandmother’s voices and wisdom. I will create, and I will always know my value and my worth. I trust and believe that my ancestors and my guides are looking after me. These giants may have the money to bully artists, creatives, and small business but we know the truth and absolutely must not allow it. As a small business owner, I appreciate you standing with us in this uphill journey and even if it goes nowhere, at the end of the day I can laugh to myself knowing that Starbucks made a drink inspired by HW 🔮
