When fashion blogger Kyrzayda Rodriguez was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer last year, the news of her diagnosis hit the fashion community hard. For years the fashion blogger and boutique owner had used her social platforms pages to express herself, encourage her followers to do the same, all while delving out advice on how to make it in the fashion world. For many, the Dominican blogger had become a paragon of what it means to be in the fashion industry while also being self-made. She’d turned herself into a respected voice in the community and season after season was an anticipated presence at New York Fashion Week.

It’s why, this year after Rodriguez announced that she would no longer seek treatment for her cancer and would thus miss out on Fashion Week, fans were particularly affected.

In a post to the Latina’s Instagram page three days ago, Rodriguez explained that she still hadn’t “decided if I’m attending this year, I do have my wardrobe ready just in case…. I’m going to share a few of my fav street style looks over my experiences. If it’s your first time attending Fashion Week; enjoy it to the max, really network, and don’t be afraid to be yourself. Remember it’s not about being everywhere but creating a special milestone in your life.”

In response to her absence, the fashion community has started up #youinspireuskyrzayda on Instagram.

The hashtag, which has already been posted over 200 times on the social platform, has seen fans of the blogger post their own styles with captions of what Rodriguez has meant to them.

Many of Rodriguez’s 320K followers have used the hashtag in the comments section of her posts as well.
