These 25 Images From The National School Walkout Will Leave You Speechless

Hundreds of thousands of students walked out of their classrooms on March 14, 2018, to participate in the National School Walkout, a nationwide protest and call to action to ban assault weapons. Students and teachers stepped out for 17 minutes to honor the lives of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Flo., exactly one month prior. The images captured will move you, give you chills, and fill you with hope for the future.

Anna was in kindergarten when 20 kindergarteners and first graders at Sandy Hook Elementary were murdered in their classroom, the week before Christmas break. I sat in my car outside the school that day wondering if I should go get her, bring her home to keep her safe. But we made the same choice those 20 kid’s parents made, to send her to school. Education, friends, hot lunch, field trips, art, recorder club, library books, talents shows, recess, scraped knees and ice packs, PTA meetings, homework, play dates, OBOB, band, bridge projects, school plays, field day, art night, it all happens at school. They have THE RIGHT to be safe. They have THE RIGHT to be safe. They have THE RIGHT to be safe. Photo credit to Lucy’s kindergarten teacher, Ms Dana @danaj1964 ❤️#nationalschoolwalkout
